I find the standard layout where every individual time you've done a task in a given time period it's listed separately. So you might have done 3 minutes of chore "Writing" and then another 8 minutes and then 25 minutes. Mostly, I think it's useful to see the combined period from the total Time tracking screen, which is the screen used most during the day as you're tracking your time.
You could amalgamate them so that every task in the task list is shown within a single time period, e.g. a day, and the running total of each is shown. This allows one-click tracking, instead of clicking the Play button and then selecting the task (two clicks).
(As a side product, it also easily allows what quite a lot of other people have asked for, namely one-click to switch between tasks, without having to stop the timer.)
